The mission of the Legal Pricing Academy® is to educate and support the fast-growing community of pricing professionals in the legal industry. We are committed to propagating and elevating pricing expertise through both online and in-person learning. Our training supports better understanding of best practices and encourages sharing and developing pricing strategies, tactics, and mechanisms to aid organizational change.

We are dedicated to the success of legal pricing professionals, helping them become industry leaders in their field and earn the recognition they deserve.

We are a collaboration of Validatum® and the Buying Legal Council:

Validatum® is a specialist legal services pricing consultancy based in London and New York with a wide international reach. It is the foremost architect of legal services pricing practice internationally. Its founder and managing director Richard Burcher is a former practising lawyer/attorney of over 30 years and a former managing partner with extensive university masters level post-graduate study in pricing. Having worked with more than 300 law firms in over 20 countries, he is regarded by many as the leading legal services pricing consultant in the world.

Richard is a Teaching Fellow (Pricing) on the faculty of the Australian College of Law Master of Legal Business program, a member of the Brussels-based European Pricing Platform and the Professional Pricing Society (USA). He is the founder of the Validatum Pricing Forum®, which was created to provide support, training and collegiality for lawyers and other professionals in law firms with pricing responsibilities. He is also an Advisory Panel member of the US True Value Partnership Institute and a consultant in India’s foremost legal profession consultancy, Legal League Consulting.

The Buying Legal Council® is the international trade organization for professionals tasked with sourcing legal services and supplier relationship management. The Buying Legal Council® is led by executive director Dr. Silvia Hodges Silverstein, known internationally for her research, teaching and speaking on purchasing decisions and change in the legal industry.

Silvia is the editor of the Legal Procurement Handbook and has authored Harvard Business School case studies on legal procurement and the legal industry. She is a lecturer at Columbia Law School and an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School in New York, where she teaches law firm management.
